I've had enough of your moaning for one day. Why don't you put a sock in it？
这一天我都在听你抱怨，安静一点行不行啊！
注：有时候你也会听到“put a cork in it”，意思是一样的。
2. Cork it
"Shhh, cork it and listen to him".
“嘘，别说了，好好听他说。”
注：“put a cork in it”更常用。
3. Button it
"Button it, ok. I'm trying to think!"
“闭嘴好吗，我在思考呢！”

一般shut up是很没礼貌的，所以shut up确实不够嘲讽，网路/电视剧/小说/漫画也会有其他有创意好笑/嘲讽的说法，现实中其实我很少听到人家用这些，大概我朋友都不会互相吐槽。
开玩笑/夸张语气说shut up倒是还是有人会用。

类似shut up的语气是zip it，大约美国比较常会听到，不过个人觉得是偏向跟小孩子说话了。

如果要客气的话一般就是silence/quiet 或be silent/be quiet还是最长听到的，不然就视情况(如叫插嘴的闭嘴)是let me （或her/him） finish [talking].

Just know there is another word, all the time think only “shut up”

We seldom use "shup up" but always say : Don't talk/ Be quiet

sometimes, people just using "shhhhhh" to let others be quiet

I'm more used to use polite saying: Be quiet。

Be quiet or  silence  may be more   polite。

shut up感觉是愤怒的情况下吼出来的。

In china ,people  often  express their idea  in an implicit way:  do a  shush.

Normally，'be quiet’  is useful，'shut up' is so rude

If I use “put a cork in it”, some people may not know the meaning, so I will continue to use “ shut up”

"Be quiet" is more  polite.

shut up seems a little bit rude, it is not polite.
be quite is more suitable for most situation

我们英语老师一般都用请安静之类比较有礼仪的话语让我们闭嘴呢。
Please be quiet and respect the teacher who has been working so hard

I think shut up is used when I'm very angry. It feels like a roar.

shut up确实在小说或者影视剧中听的比较多，书面上use  keep quiet.

看过TVB《男亲女爱》电视剧里映像很深刻的 就是miss mo 让人闭嘴的时候说的“你给我off” 我觉得超级搞笑的 把人当机器 让他关闭。
