[align=center][table=80%,#ffffff,#548dd4,4][tr][td]
BELLA: I'd never given much thought to how I would die. But dying in the place of someone I love seems like a good way to go. So I 【1】 can't bring myself to regret the decision to leave home. I would miss 【2】 Phoenix. I'd miss the heat. I would miss my loving, erratic, 【3】 harebrained mother.
Renee: Okay.
PHIL: Renee, come on.
BELLA: And her new husband.
PHIL: Guys, come on. I love you both. We got a plane to catch.
BELLA: But they want to go on the road, so I'm gonna spend some time with my dad,   and this will be a good thing. I think.
...
Charlie: I've cleared some shelves off in the bathroom.
BELLA: Right. One bathroom.
Charlie: It's a pretty good 【4】 work lamp. The sales lady picked out the bed stuff. You like purple, right?
BELLA: Purple's cool. Thanks.
Charlie: Okay.
BELLA: One of the best things about Charlie, he doesn't 【5】 hover.

【1】句型讲解:can't bring myself to
can't bring oneself to do something表示“不想做某事”。
这里的bring是“to force, persuade, or make (oneself)/逼迫、说服”的意思。例句:I can't bring myself to discuss it.

Phoenix
harebrained adj. Foolish; flighty
Don't you hover around my girl!

Eric: You're Isabella Swan, the new girl. Hi, I'm Eric, 【6】the eyes and ears of this place. Anything you need, tour guide, lunch date, shoulder to cry on?
Bella: I'm really kind of the more 【7】suffer-in-silence type.
Eric: Good headline for your feature. I'm on the paper, and you're news, baby, front page.
Bella: No, I'm not. You... Please don't have any sort of...
Eric: 【8】Chillax. No feature.
Bella: Okay, thanks.
Eric: Cool?
...
Mike: Hey, I'm Mike Newton.
Bella: Nice to meet you.
Mike: Yeah, yeah.
Jessica: She's got a great spike, huh?
Mike: Yeah, it's...
Jessica: I'm Jessica, by the way. Hey, you're from Arizona, right?
Bella: Yeah.
Jessica: Aren't people from Arizona supposed to be, like, really 【9】tan?
ella: Yeah. Maybe that's why they kicked me out.
Mike: You're good.
Jessica: That's so funny.
...
Eric: Hey, Mickey! You met my 【10】home girl, Bella?
Mike: Your home girl?
Eric: Yeah.
TYLER: My girl. Sorry I had to mess up your game, Mike!
Mike: Tyler.
Jessica: Oh, my God. It's like first grade all over again. You're the shiny new toy.
Angela: Smile.
Bella: Okay.
Angela: Sorry. I needed a 【11】candid for the feature.
Eric: The feature's dead, Angela. Don't bring it up again.
Bella: It's okay, I just...
Eric: I 【12】got your back, baby.
【6】口语词组:the eyes and ears
相关习语:all eyes and ears 认真地看、仔细地听

Chillax

tan n.

homegirl n. 同乡的女子 a girl or woman from one's neighborhood, hometown, or region

【12】俚语讲解:got your back
got your back就是这么来的。

Bella: Who are they?
Angela: The Cullens.
Jessica: They're Dr. And Mrs. Cullen's foster kids. They moved down here from 【13】Alaska, like, a few years ago.
Angela: They kind of 【14】keep to themselves.
Jessica: Yeah, 'Cause they're all together. Like, 【15】together, together. The blonde girl, that's Rosalie, and the big dark-haired guy, Emmett, 【16】they're, like, a thing. I'm not even sure that's legal.
Angela: Jess, they're not actually related.
Jessica: Yeah, but they live together. It's weird. And, okay, the little dark-haired girl's Alice. She's really weird, and she's with Jasper, the blond one who looks like he's in pain. Dr. Cullen's like this foster dad/matchmaker.
Angela: Maybe he'll adopt me.
Bella: Who's he?
JESSICA: That's Edward Cullen. He's totally gorgeous, obviously, but apparently nobody here's good enough for him. 【17】Like I care, you know? So, yeah. Seriously, like, don't waste your time.
Bella: I wasn't planning on it.

Alaska

【14】口语词组:keep to oneself
The new girl keeps to herself.

Daisy and I have a thing.
He had a thing for Jane.

Like I care
- Hey, I win the game.
- Yeah. Like I care.

Edward: If you hate the cold and the rain so much, why'd you move to the wettest place in the continental US?
Bella: It's complicated.
Edward: I'm sure I can 【18】keep up.
Bella: My mom remarried, and...
Edward: So you don't like the guy, or...
Bella: No, that's not... Phil's really nice.
Edward: It's 【19】metaphase. You want to check it?
Bella: I believe you.
Edward:   Why didn't you move with your mother and Phil?
Bella: Well, Phil's a 【20】minor league baseball player, and he travels a lot, and my mom stayed home with me, but I knew it made her unhappy, so I figured I'd stay with my dad for a while.
Edward:   And now you're unhappy.
Bella: No.
Edward: I'm sorry, I'm just... I'm just trying to 【21】figure you out. You're very difficult for me to read.

Bella: Hey, did you 【22】get contacts?
Edward: No.
Bella: Your eyes were black the last time I saw you, and now they're, like, golden brown.
Edward: Yeah, I know, it's the... It's the 【23】fluorescents.

【21】俚语解释:figure you out

CHARLIE: You and I are gonna talk. You all right?
Bella: I'm fine, Dad. Calm down.
TYLER: I'm sorry, Bella. I tried to stop.
Bella: I know. It's okay.
CHARLIE: No. 【24】It sure as hell is not okay.
Bella: Dad, it wasn't his fault.
CHARLIE: You could've been killed. You understand that?
Bella: Yes. But I wasn't, so...
CHARLIE: You can 【25】kiss your license goodbye.
Dr. Cullen: I heard the chief's daughter was here.
CHARLIE: Dr. Cullen.
Dr. Cullen: Charlie. I've got this one, Jackie. Isabella.
Bella: Bella.
Dr. Cullen: Well, Bella, looks like you 【26】took quite a spill. How do you feel?
Bella: Good.
Dr. Cullen: Look here. You might experience some post-traumatic stress or disorientation, but your vitals look good. No signs of any head trauma. I think you'll be just fine.
TYLER: I'm so sorry, Bella. I'm really...
Bella: You know, it would've been a 【27】whole lot worse if Edward wasn't there. He knocked me out of the way.
CHARLIE: Edward? Your boy?
Bella: Yeah, it was amazing. I mean, he got to me so fast. He was nowhere near me.
Dr. Cullen: Sounds like you were very lucky. 【28】Charlie.

【24】口语词组:sure as hell
It sure as hell is not okay.

【25】口语词组:kiss your license goodbye

【26】俚语讲解:took quite a spill

Charlie

CHARLIE: I gotta go sign some paperwork. You should... You should probably call your mom.
Bella: Did you tell her?   She's probably just 【29】freaking out.
ROSALIE: Fifteen kids that saw what happened.
EDWARD: What was I supposed to do, then? Let her die?
ROSALIE: This isn't just about you. It's about all of us.
CARLISLE: I think we should 【30】take this in my office.
Bella: Can I talk to you for a minute?
Dr. Cullen: Rosalie.
Edward: What?
Bella: How did you get over to me so fast?
Edward: I was standing right next to you, Bella.
Bella: No. You were next to your car, 【31】across the lot.
Edward: No, I wasn't.
Bella: Yes, you were.
Edward: Bella, you're... You hit your head. I think you're confused.
Bella: I know what I saw.
Edward: And what exactly was that?
Bella: You... You stopped the van. You pushed it away with your hand.
Edward: Well, nobody's gonna believe you, so...
Bella: I wasn't gonna tell anybody. I just need to know the truth.
Edward: Can't you just 【32】thank me and get over it?
Bella: Thank you.
Edward: 【33】You're not gonna let this go, are you?
Bella: No.
Edward: Well, then I hope you enjoy disappointment.

【30】口语用法:take this in my office
TMI. Take this in your house.

【31】口语词汇:across the lot
lot 英英解释 an establishment for the storage or sale of motor vehicles

【32】口语词组:thank me and get over it

You're not gonna let this go, are you
You're not gonna let this go, are you.

Edward: 【34】Edible art? Bella.
Bella: Thanks. You know, 【35】your mood swings are kind of giving me whiplash.
Edward: I only said it'd be better if we weren't friends, not that I didn't wanna be.
Bella: What does that mean?
Edward: It means if you were smart, you'd stay away from me.
Bella: Okay, well, let's say 【36】for argument's sake that I'm not smart. Would you tell me the truth?
Edward: No, probably not. I'd rather hear your theories.
Bella: I have considered 【37】radioactive spiders and Kryptonite.
Edward: That's all superhero stuff, right? What if I'm not the hero? What if I'm the bad guy?
Bella: You're not. 【38】I can see what you're trying to put off, but I can see that it's just to keep people away from you. It's a mask. 【39】Why don't we just hang out?   Everybody's going to the beach. Come. I mean, have fun.
Edward: Which beach?
Bella: La Push.
Edward: I don't know. I just...
Bella: Is there something wrong with that beach?
Edward: It's just a little crowded.

Edible art

【35】词汇讲解:your mood swings are kind of giving me whiplash.

【36】口语讲解:for argument's sake that I'm not smart

【37】背景知识:radioactive spiders and Kryptonite.

I can see what you're trying to put off

Why don't we just hang out?☀

JESSICA: He's not here. Whenever the weather's nice, the Cullens disappear.
Bella: What, 【40】do they just ditch?
JESSICA: No, 【41】Dr. And Mrs. Cullen yank them out for, like, hiking and camping and stuff. 【42】I tried that out on my parents. Not even close.
Angela: Guys, 【43】I'm going to the prom with Eric. I just asked him. 【44】I took control.
Bella: I told you that would happen.
Angela: Are you sure you have to go out of town?
Bella: Oh, yeah, it's a little family thing.
JESSICA: Okay, we should go shopping in Port Angeles before 【45】all the good dresses get cleaned out.
【40】俚语解析:do they just ditch?

Dr. And Mrs. Cullen yank them out for, like, hiking and camping and stuff.

I tried that out on my parents. Not even close.
Not even close

I'm going to the prom with Eric.

I took control.

【45】俚语解析:all the good dresses get cleaned out.

Bella: You're impossibly fast and strong. 【46】Your skin is pale white and ice-cold. Your eyes change color. And sometimes you speak like you're from a different time. You never eat or drink anything. You don't go out in the sunlight. How old are you?
Edward: Seventeen.
Bella: How long have you been 17?
Edward: A while.
Bella: I know what you are.
Edward: Say it. 【47】Out loud. Say it.
Bella: Vampire.
Edward: Are you afraid?
Bella: No.
Edward: Then ask me the most basic question. What do we eat?
Bella: You won't hurt me. Where are we going?
Edward: Up the mountain. 【48】Out of the cloud bank. You need to see what I look like in the sunlight. This is why we don't show ourselves in sunlight. People would know we're different. This is what I am.
Bella: It's like diamonds. You're beautiful.
Edward: Beautiful?   This is the skin of a killer, Bella. I'm a killer.
Bella: I don't believe that.
Edward: That's because you believe the lie. It's 【49】camouflage. 【50】I'm the world's most dangerous predator.

Your skin is pale white and ice-cold

Out loud.

Out of the cloud bank.

I'm the world's most dangerous predator.

Edward: I'm gonna 【61】take you to my place tomorrow.
Bella: Thanks. Wait, like, with your family?
Edward: Yeah.
Bella: What if they don't like me?
Edward: So, you're worried not because you'll be in a house full of vampires, but because you think they won't approve of you?
Bella: I'm glad I amuse you. What is it?
Edward: Complication. 【62】I'll pick you up tomorrow.
Bella: Hey. Come to visit your truck?
Jacob: Looks good. Got that dent out.

Mr. Black: Never thought it was.
CHARLIE: So spread the word out 【68】at the rez, huh? Keep the kids out of the woods.
Mr. Black: Will do.
【61】常用口语:take you to my place
Your place or mine?

这边bug sb. about sth.

【65】常用口语:keep it real
To not be fake. Be yourself.

Vitamin R

- It's okay, Jasper. You won't hurt her.
- All right, I'm gonna take you on a tour of the rest of the house.
- Okay.
- Well, I'll see you soon.
- Okay.
- Cute!
- I know.
- I think that went well.
- 【75】Clean this up. Now.
Her name is Bella.

【70】常用口语:no matter what.
不是有一首歌就叫《no matter what》么?

Get a whiff of that.

【72】固定词组:for all intents and purposes.
The game is over for all intents and purposes.

It's very considerate of you.

【74】固定词组:you two have gone public now

Clean this up. Now.

- Dad, we gonna talk about boys?
- Yeah, I guess not. I just feel like I leave you alone too much.
- You should be around people. I don't really mind being alone. I guess I'm kind of like my dad in that way.
Here's your veggie plate, Stephenie.

【77】词组讲解:as healthy as a horse.

【78】俚语解释:your friends are flagging you.

【79】常用口语:turn in early
以后不要总是说go to sleep或者go to bed咯。

【80】常用口语:he's a good buddy.

So, how's all the baseball stuff going?
- Phil's working so hard. You know, spring training. We're looking for a house to rent in case things become more permanent. You'd like 【82】Jacksonville, baby.

- Come on, we gotta talk boys. Are you being safe?
Jacksonville

- No. 【87】He's a junior. I'm a junior. I thought you liked the Cullens.
- I thought you didn't like any of the boys in town.
- 【88】Edward doesn't live in town. Technically. He's right outside.
- He is?
- Yeah, he wanted to meet you, officially.

- Bella's gonna play baseball. Well, 【90】good luck with that.
- I'll take good care of her. I promise.
- Hey. Still got that 【91】pepper spray?
- Yeah, Dad.

- Well, 【92】it's the American pastime, and there's a thunderstorm coming. It's the only time we can play. You'll see why.
He's a junior.

【89】常用口语:that's the plan.

【90】常用口语:good luck with that.

【92】俚语解释:it's the American pastime

- The humans were tracking us, but we led them east. You should be safe.
- Excellent.

Like that'll help
Like that'll help

It's my birthday...can I ask for something?

Kiss me

I love you.

You're my only reason to stay①...alive, if that's what I am.

It's time, it's time!

Happy birthday, Bella.

Let's open your presents! There's a cake too.

Alice, that cake could feed fifty②, and you guys③ don't even eat... Thanks. *ouch* Paper cut④.

What happened with Jasper was nothing.

Nothing compared to what could have happened. And I promise never to put you through anything like this ever again. This is the last time you will ever see me.

How much could you mean to him if he left you here, unprotected. But I can't help myself⑤, you are so... mouthwatering⑥.

Jake, run!

①YOU’RE MY ONLY REASON TO STAY ALIVE= “你是我活下去的唯一理由。”

②THAT CAKE COULD FEED FIFTY= 这个蛋糕大得可以喂饱50个人(表示很大)。

You(单数): Paul, can you help me?

You guys (复数,男女皆可): Can you guys help me, I need some people to move this car.

④PAPER CUT= I cut myself with a paper sheet edge.

⑤I CAN’T HELP MYSELF= I can’t resist, I can’t control myself.

- The girl is with us. I think it best if you leave.
- I can see the game is over. We'll go now. James.
- Get Bella out of here. Go.
【98】词汇讲解:use three more players

You could take their place.
take sb.'s place

I'm the one with the wicked curveball.

I think we can handle that.

- Listen to me. James is a tracker. 【103】The hunt is his obsession. I read his mind. 【104】My reaction on the field set him off. I just made this his most exciting game ever. He's never gonna stop.
- What should we do?
- We have to kill him. Rip him apart and burn the pieces.
- Where we going?
- Away from Forks. 【105】We'll get a ferry to Vancouver.
- I have to go home. Now.
- You have to take me home.
- You can't go home.
- He's just gonna trace your scent there. It's the first place he's gonna look.
- But my dad is there. We...
- 【106】It doesn't matter!
- Yes, it does! He could get killed because of us!
- Just let me get you out of here first, all right?
- It's my dad! We have to go back!  【107】We'll figure a way to lead the tracker away somehow. I don't know. But we have to do something.
The hunt is his obsession.
His obsession with computers began six months ago.

My reaction on the field set him off.

We'll get a ferry to Vancouver.

It doesn't matter!
It doesn't matter!

We'll figure a way

- You're not gonna drive home right now. 【108】You can sleep on it. If you still feel like going in the morning,  I'll take you to the airport.
- No. I want to drive. It'll give me more time to think. I mean, if I get really tired, 【109】I'll pull into a motel. I promise.
- Look, Bella, I know 【110】I'm not that much fun to be around, but I can change that. We can do more stuff together.
- Like what? Like watch baseball on the flat-screen? Eat at the diner every night? 【111】Steak and cobbler? Dad, that's you. That's not me.
- Bella, come on, I just... I just got you back.
- Yeah, and, you know, if I don't get out now, then 【112】I'm just gonna be stuck here like Mom.
You can sleep on it.
sleep on sth.

I'll pull into a motel.

I'm not that much fun to be around,

Steak and cobbler?
