01improve by leaps and bounds
名词leap和bound都有「跳跃」的意思，短语 by leaps and bounds 便用来形容改善或进步非常迅速，突飞猛进。
It has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years.
近年来，xxx获得了迅猛发展。
也可以用As sth grows / improves / advances by leaps and bounds,…替换掉上面的句型
02make strides in sth
stride引申为「发展，进步」， make great strides in sth 在...方面迈了一大步，便表示「在...方面取得巨大的进步」。
Computers have made huge strides in understanding human speech.
计算机在理解人类语言方面已经取得了巨大的进步。
被动语态： Significant / Great / Huge strides have been made in ...
03make headway in sth
make headway 也可表示「取得进展」，这个词尤其用来指缓慢而艰难的进展，往往用在否定句里。
The reinvention of Japan's power supply is not making much headway.
日本电力供应升级改造并未取得多大进展。
被动句式： Little headway has been made in sth. 指「...方面没什么进展」。
04come a long way
come a long way 也是一个固定词组，走了很远的路，喻指「取得成就，取得进步」
Mobile phone technology has come a long way in fifty years.
五十年来，智能手机已经取得了很大的进步。
