　　Did the bad weather affect your summer holiday?
　　坏天气影响到你的暑期了吗?

　　2. Borrow/ Lend
　　I need to borrow $2,000 from my bank.
　　我需要从银行借2000美元。
　　My bank has agreed to lend me ￡2,000.
　　银行答应借我2000美元。

　　3. Controlled/Inspected
　　Our machines are controlled by a central computer system.
　　我们的机器由中央电脑系统控制。
　　The cash machines are inspected (checked)once a day by our staff.
　　我们的工作人员每天检查一次收银机。

　　4. Interested/Interesting
　　I am interested in homeopathy.

　　There are more emigrants than immigrants in this country. (people who leave their country permanently)

　　16. Lose (动词)/Loose (形容词)

　　I have lost a lot of weight. This skirt is really loose.

      17. Advice (名词) /Advise (动词)
　　Let me give you some advice.
　　让我给你点建议。
　　I advise you not to do that.

　　18. Briefly/Shortly
　　The chairman spoke briefly at the beginning of the conference. (for a short time)
　　会议开始时主席发表了简短讲话。(强调持续时间短)
　　Good Morning. The chairman will open the conference shortly. (in a few minutes)
　　早上好。主席马上就开始会议。(强调几分钟之内)

　　19. Principal (名词/形容词)/Principle (名词)
　　The School Principal has given the pupils permission to go out today.
　　校长允许学生们今天外出。
　　Our company has very high principles.
　　我们公司奉行高标准。
　　The principal issue we have here is that this project will not finish on time.
　　我们现在面临的主要问题是工程不能按时完成了。

　　20. Lie/Lay (现在时)
　　I was so tired that I had to lie down for 30 minutes. (No direct object)
　　我太累了，必须躺下休息30分钟。(无直接宾语)
　　The baby is tired so I shall lay her down for her nap. (Direct Object = baby)
　　小婴儿累了，我要把他放下来，让他睡一会。(直接宾语是“小婴儿”)
